Minneapolis, MN — Very little offense was the theme as the Twins lost to the Indians, 5-2 Tuesday night at Target Field.
Samuel Deduno took the loss, giving up five earned runs over 5 2/3 innings. His ERA jumped to 3.54 on the season — still the best for any Twin starter (aside from Andrew Albers) this season.
Josh Willingham’s solo home run in the second inning extended the Twins’ streak of scoring runs via the long ball. According to Elias Sports, the Twins scored 23 consecutive runs via the home run, the longest such streak in MLB history.
That streak was snapped in the sixth when Joe Mauer scored from first base on a single to center by Justin Morneau. Mauer was able to score thanks to an error by Cleveland’s Michael Bourne.
Minnesota has 14 home runs in the last six games.
Zach McAllister limited the Twins to two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts over six innings.
