Samuel Deduno returns to the major leagues tonight in Detroit, as the Twins try to stop a buzz-killing nine-game losing streak.
Deduno, a hero in the World Baseball Classic, may have been in the Twins’ starting five had he not suffered a groin injury this spring. He takes on the Tigers’ Anibal Sanchez in Game 2 of the Minnesota-Detroit four-game series at Comerica Park.
Deduno was added to the 40-man roster today after reliever Tim Wood was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list, according to the Star-Tribune.
In 15 starts for the Twins last season, Deduno wnt 6-5 with a 4.44 ERA. In three starts in Triple-A Rochester this year, Deduno has posted a 2.70 ERA in three starts.
