It took a while, but tempers started to flare at the sixth day of Vikings training camp in Mankato on Thursday.
The Pioneer Press reports that backup guard Seth Olsen shoved rookie cornerback Xavier Rhodes after Rhodes intercepted a pass from Matt Cassel. The kerfuffle featured some nasty words, but it was broken up rather quickly.
“That’s going to happen sometimes in camp,” head coach Leslie Frazier said. “There’s going to be some back and forth. When we do a live drill, it’s live. Anything can happen.”
Veteran defensive back Chris Cook tells WCCO he’s in the best shape of his career at training camp, and he’s hoping it results in his first career interception.
Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave is raving about rookie wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson. Musgrave tells Vikings.com he’s surprised with how naturally Patterson catches the ball.
One scare during the practice was middle linebacker Erin Henderson sat out for a brief period because of a sore groin.
Wide receiver Jarius Wright told reporters that he can “do it all.”
