The third day of Vikings training camp featured players in full pads for the first time, and the first of six consecutive fully padded afternoon practices.
The player to steal Monday’s show was wide receiver Stephen Burton, who according to the Star Tribune, scored three touchdowns.
Wide receiver Jarius Wright also had a nice day, especially as an outside receiver.
“I kind of think that’s half of it right there,” Wright told FOX Sports North. “(People) think just because I’m a smaller guy, I’m only a slot receiver. But I’m trying to break that mold and show them that a smaller guy can also play outside receiver.”
Christian Ponder had a rough day, according to the Star Tribune. In 11-on-11 competition, Ponder completed just 4-of-12 passes. Matt Cassel, in the same competition, went 8-for-11 in the air.
KFAN reports that linebacker Chad Greenway isn’t where he needs to be in the health department. He’s still recovering from minor knee surgery in June.

Desmond Bishop continued to play outside linebacker. He reiterated to the Pioneer Press that it doesn’t bother him that he’s not playing middle linebacker.
