As we documented earlier Tuesday, injuries to Jared Allen and Harrison Smith were the biggest talkers following another day of Vikings training camp in Mankato.
Other than that, these are the stories that came to light.
Wide receivers Jerome Simpson and Stephen Burton had good days. Simpson caught up couple of big third down passes and Burton made a tremendous over-the-shoulder catch on a deep ball from Matt Cassel.
Adrian Peterson told the Pioneer Press that he’s glad the NFL used him as an example in a video of what not to do when trying to avoid the new crown of the helmet rule. Peterson says the video showed him just how dangerous a hit to him with his head lowered could be.
Jared Allen doesn’t hate the idea of a rotation on the defensive line, but he’s not all for it, either.
“I’m a firm believer: You put the best ones out there,” Allen said to FOX Sports North. “If you’re good enough to be the starter, you’re the starter. And I’ve always been a firm believer in that. You have to have depth because of injuries. You have to have depth because guys do get tired. You can’t expect a 315-pound guy to play 80 snaps a game. I understand that. My philosophy is when you start rotating left tackles, you can start rotating me. It’s always been that way.”
Leslie Frazier got a little nervous when the Star Tribune asked him about his thoughts on players using Twitter.
Offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave and defensive coordinator Alan Williams are preparing for Friday’s preseason opener against the Texans. Check out what they had to say at Vikings.com.
After a very unhealthy season in 2012, tight end John Carlson is hoping for bigger and better things this season.
“To be on the field is the goal and to be getting better every day – last year was a huge disappointment in that regard,” Carlson told WCCO. “I’m trying not to take it for granted.”
Minnesota State University-Mankato wide receiver Adam Thielen continues to impress, according to WCCO.
The Pioneer Press did a great story on safety Jamarca Sanford’s maturation into a defensive leader.
