Former Wild winger Dany Heatley is getting millions of dollars after filing a lawsuit against his former agent.
CTV – a TV station in Calgary – reported Wednesday that Heatley was awarded $4.1 million from Presidential Suites Inc. and $2.3 million from Waterfront Development Inc. (the defendants in the lawsuit).
Heatley, who filed the suit in 2012 when he was a member of the Wild, sought out $11 million in damages from his former agent Stacy McAlpine and McAlpine’s parents over failed real estate investments, the Globe and Mail reported.
The former two-time 50-goal scorer alleged the trio lured him into several real estate ventures across Canada and the U.S. with promises of profitable returns, which never materialized.
It’s also worth noting that Chris Phillips, a former NHL defenseman and teammate of Heatley’s, filed a similar suit against the McAlpine’s in October 2016.
Heatley played in 869 games during his NHL career, including 194 with the Wild.
