Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher told the Star Tribune this week that the No. 1 offseason priority is finding a No. 1 goaltender. Fletcher hopes to re-sign Niklas Backstrom.
Another priority will be deciding what to do with veteran winger Matt Cullen, who like Backstrom, also becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.
The 36-year-old Cullen tells Michael Russo of the Star Tribune that he would love to return to Minnesota next season.
“I feel good about where my game and body is at,” Cullen said. “I know I’m getting older and later in my career, but I feel better than I’ve ever felt on the ice. It helps keep you feeling young and excited get work this summer.”
