Did Sam Bradford’s season-ending knee injury open the door for the Minnesota Vikings to trade Christian Ponder to the St. Louis Rams?
Eric Edholm at Yahoo Sports put Ponder’s name in a small group of possible replacement quarterbacks for the Rams. USA Today’s Tom Pelissero thinks otherwise.
For those asking about Christian Ponder: #Rams didn't call last year when Sam Bradford went down, so hard to imagine it's different now.

The current backup in St. Louis is former Viking Shaun Hill, a 13-year journeyman quarterback. A.J. Mansour wrote at Vikings Journal that Ponder has more talent than Hill, but the most the Vikings would likely acquire by trading their former first-round pick is a sixth or seventh-round pick.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher says he’s not hitting the panic button.
“It makes no sense to jump and react right now and try to fill the hole at whatever cost,” Fisher said, according to the Star Tribune. “We’re going to take our time and evaluate this. There’s going to be some quarterbacks that are released and there may or may not be some quarterbacks out there that have trade value.”
Ponder, who sits third on Norv Turner’s depth chart behind Teddy Bridgewater and Matt Cassel, made it clear last week he’s not asking to be traded.
Wouldn’t it be interesting to see Ponder starting for the Rams when they play the Vikings in the season opener Sept. 7?
