Twins fans got their wish early Friday when the team announced longtime radio voice Cory Provus would be taking over the TV play-by-play duties. Provus hinted at more accessible coverage being a big reason for taking the new gig.
In news that will be music to Twins fans’ ears, Provus told media Friday: “Blackouts are going away. Twins games are going to be more accessible.”
The Twins announced legendary TV broadcaster Dick Bremer would be transitioning to an ambassadorial role after 40 years in the tv booth for Twins broadcasts. Kris Attebery is set to take over the radio play-by-play role from Provus next season.
Cory Provus said that accessibility of the Twins TV broadcast for more fans was a very important factor in making his decision to move to TV. He says he's been told there will be no blackouts of the broadcast moving forward.

There remains little clarity regarding how Twins games will be broadcast in 2024 after the club’s deal with Bally Sports North ended upon the culmination of the 2023 season.
Bally’s parent company, Diamond Sports Group, is embroiled in an ongoing bankruptcy court case, leaving teams and leagues to look elsewhere for their broadcast rights.
The Twins could return to Bally for a year, look to another broadcaster for their television rights, or attempt to launch their own broadcast service.
Under the previous agreement, if Twins fans didn’t have a cable package that had Bally Sports North they were not able to stream the team’s games if they lived within the blackout region, which encompassed Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Iowa and a portion of western Wisconsin.
