Twins pitcher Kevin Correia blanked the White Sox for seven innings Sunday and Minnesota rode home runs by Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer to a 5-2 victory on Chicago’s south side.
Correia struck out seven and walked only one. It was a turnaround from his previous start, in which he allowed six runs in two innings against the Kansas City Royals Monday.
The home runs by Dozier and Mauer came in the fifth inning and accounted for all of the Twins’ runs. They completed a power surge that saw Minnesota hit 11 homers in the four-game series in Chicago.

Jared Burton pitched a scoreless eighth but Casey Fien gave up two solo home runs in the ninth to let the White Sox on the scoreboard.
Jamey Carroll started at third base in what was apparently his last game for the Twins. After the game Carroll was reportedly dealt to the Royals for a player to be named later.

Carroll’s departure suggests the Twins still have faith in Trevor Plouffe, who is mired in a 6-for-60 slump and has not scored a run since before the All-Star break.

By taking three out of four in Chicago, the Twins turned in a winning record on their seven game road trip. They now head home to face the Cleveland Indians Monday, with another four-game set against Chicago’s pale hose beginning Thursday.
