A series of Tweets from Vikings cornerback Chris Cook Monday night appear to show the Vikings soon-to-be free agent corner will not be receiving a contract before the opening of free agency on March 11.
Cook, 27, is one of the Vikings 16 unrestricted free agents. 1500 ESPN reports it’s not hard to read between the lines on this one.

Cook has openly expressed an interest in returning to the Vikings.
Last week, Cook told the Pioneer Press, “If they want me to come back, I would love to come back. But ultimately it’s not my decision. So I’m just waiting and working out.”
Cook has started 29 games for the Vikings over the last four years, but has not intercepted a pass. Things didn’t work out for him last season, like the Vikings had hoped. He missed four games with injuries, was ejected from the Vikings Dec. 1 win over Chicago after contacting an officials and gave up a league-high nine touchdowns.
Despite more than a reported $30 million in cap space for next season, the Vikings don’t appear to be in a rush to sign Cook, who cost the team $2.3 million against the salary cap, last season. It doesn’t mean Cook won’t be back with Minnesota, though.
According to ESPN, Cook has been too beaten up with injuries to get big money this spring. With coach Mike Zimmer’s willingness to take a gamble on players with something to prove, ESPN believes Cook could be given a one-year contract to return as the third or fourth cornerback on the roster for the Vikings.
