The Vikings’ crop of cornerbacks entering the 2013 season won’t include Antoine Winfield, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
Pro Football Focus rated Winfield as the No. 1 cornerback in the NFL last season, but Chris Cook doesn’t think the Vikings will miss Winfield as much as one might think.
“We’ve got a lot of young, hungry guys. We put in a lot of extra time and we communicate very well and we spend a lot of time together bonding,” Cook told 1500 ESPN. “I don’t think we’ll be what people think we’ll be. I think we’ll be probably, most definitely a top secondary this year.”
One reason Cook might be so confident is that he and rookie Xavier Rhodes will form one of the biggest cornerback combos in the NFL. The Vikings selected Rhodes in the first-round of last month’s NFL Draft.
