The Minnesota Vikings moved to 1-1 on the season as they lost to the Packers in Green Bay.
The Vikings got off to a terrible start, with Green Bay racing to a 21-0 lead early in the 2nd quarter, with the Vikings seemingly having no answer to the Aarons Rodgers and Jones.
But a stunning 75-yard touchdown run from Dalvin Cook kickstarted a recovery, with the Vikings defense finding its feet to shut down the Green Bay offense.
Unfortunately, the Vikings were hampered in their recovery efforts by a combination of abysmal play by Kirk Cousins and some head-scratching officiating.
After a desperate throw from Cousins turned into a 61-yard play by Chad Beebe, the Vikings had a Stefon Diggs TD scratched off upon review, with the officials for some reason believing Dalvin Cook had blocked a Packers defender.
In the end, the Vikings had to settle for a Dan Bailey FG to go in at the break 21-10 down.
Cousins somewhat redeemed himself early in the second half, thanks to a 45-yard missile he threw to Diggs, who got the touchdown he should’ve had in the first.
Penalties continued to cost the Vikings as they sought a way back into the game, with rookie center Garrett Bradbury guilty of holding on more than one occasion.
With Cook in the team the Vikings always had a chance, but Cousins once again cost the Vikings in the redzone late in the fourth.
The Vikings inexplicably called a pass play on 1st and 10, and with Cousins under pressure he chose to loop a pass into the end zone, rather than throwing the ball away, resulting in an interception.
