The Pioneer Press has conflicting reports on Adrian Peterson’s schedule for the rest of the week.
First, Peterson’s father informed the Pioneer Press that his running back son will meet with the Vikings by the end of the week. But now a source close to Peterson tells the newspaper that no such meeting has been planned.
“There’s no meeting,” the source told reporter Chris Tomasson. “Adrian hasn’t told him (his father) or anyone else what he wants to do. The Vikings are in control of the situation.”
It’s the complete opposite of what his father said just hours earlier.
“They will meet again,” Nelson Peterson said. “I’m not going to say who’s going to be at the meeting. I can’t comment on that.”
Nelson Peterson said Monday’s meeting in New York between his son, General Manager Rick Spielman and Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf resolved nothing; but a return to Minnesota remains possible.
He added that the running back has not asked for a trade.
Bucs planning to go after Peterson?
A report out of Tampa Bay says the Buccaneers could be planning to aggressively pursue a trade with the Vikings for Adrian Peterson.
BucsBlitz.com has the report:
“According to a league source close to the situation, the Bucs have had internal discussions of trading for Peterson. Whether the pursuit for the veteran tailback has already occurred or will occur, no clear answer was given. Instead, I was told there are “aggressive” plans in place.”
Tampa Bay was one of five teams Yahoo’s Charles Robinson said Peterson would have an interest in playing for. The Chargers, Colts, Cardinals and Cowboys were the others. Robinson, however, doesn’t think the Bucs have yet broached the idea of proposing a trade.

The DeMarco Murray domino
A report on Wednesday said the Dallas Cowboys could begin to pursue a trade for Peterson if running back DeMarco Murray doesn’t re-sign – which it looks as if he won’t, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter adds that the Cowboys are already looking for a replacement for Murray.

Also worth noting is that ESPN’s Ben Goessling, who has been in direct communication with Peterson over the last few weeks, doesn’t think the Vikings are done trying to work things out with Peterson.
