The Minnesota Gophers returned to Big Ten play with a 4-3 overtime loss to Michigan on Friday night.
Cutler Martin netted the game-winning goal for the Wolverines at the 2:16 mark of overtime. It completed Michigan’s comeback after the Gophers had taken a third period lead.
Travis Boyd, Justin Kloos and Connor Reilly had the Minnesota goals.
“When you put yourself up 3-2 with under 10 minutes to go in the game you have to close it out,” said Gophers coach Don Lucia afterwards. “We didn’t get it off the guys stick on the next rush down the rink and those are the plays you have to make if you want to close out a good team.”
