The Gopher Men finished off their season series with Ohio state in Columbus tonight, earning a sweep over the Buckeyes off of three points from junior forward Hudson Fasching. Fasching scored the Gopher’s first goal of the night during a penalty kill in the first period, with junior Justin Kloos drawing the assist. According to Minnesota, this extends Kloos’ career-best scoring streak to eleven games.
Minnesota’s forwards tacked on two more goals during the second period, one from Swedish sophmore Leon Bristedt and another from Fasching. Goalie Eric Shierhorn managed to hold of a third period Buckeye surge, making 20 saves overall.

Senior forward Amanda Kessel scored her first goal since the 2012-2013 season after making her return to the ice on February 5th. Kessel took advantage of first period power-play opportunity and a well-timed assist from Milica McMillen. Minnesota would continue to show strength on both ends of the power play, going one for one with the advantage and killing all three penalty rounds. The road win closed out the Gopher’s four game season series against the Bulldogs.
