The Gopher men’s hockey team salvaged a split of their weekend series with the Fighting Irish with a 4-1 win Saturday night in South Bend, Indiana.
The Gophers scored three goals in the third frame to put the game away, after being tied 1-1 after two periods, according to GopherSports.com.
Leon Bristedt, Michael Brodzinski, Justin Kloos and Connor Reilly scored for Minnesota. Eric Schierhorn picked up the win with 28 saves.
The Gophers (3-4-0 overall, 0-0-0-0 Big Ten) have a home-and-home series next weekend against Minnesota State Mankato.
Mavericks beats Ferris State
Speaking of Minnesota State, the Mavericks avenged their Friday night loss to Ferris State by taking the second game of the series 3-2 Saturday night in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Sophomore forward Zeb Knutson scored the game-winning goal in the second period; it was his first goal of the season. Zach Stepan and Casey Nelson also scored for the Mavericks (5-5-0 overall, 5-1-0 WCHA).
Nebraska-Omaha takes second game against Bulldogs
The Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks swept their weekend series with Minnesota Duluth, beating the Bulldogs 4-2 Saturday night after winning Friday night by the same score.
The Bulldogs (3-4-2 overall; 0-2-0-0 NCHC) will return to AMSOIL Arena next Friday and Saturday to host Denver.
