The Bulldogs of UMD lost 6-3 to Massachusetts-Lowell Saturday night at Amsoil Arena to split their weekend series.
The loss snapped UMD’s unbeaten streak at five games. The No. 6 Bulldogs won Friday night 2-1, but it was a different story Saturday night as the River Hawks scored three unanswered goals in the second period to take the lead for good.
UMD plays its first National Collegiate Hockey Conference games Friday and Saturday at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Mavericks sweep Nanooks with 2-1 win
The Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks won their fourth straight game Saturday night as they beat Alaska Fairbanks 2-1, and swept their two-game series after a 5-2 win Friday night.
The Mavericks were down 1-0 after the first period, but scored a goal in each of the next two frames to take the victory.
Minnesota State, which stands 4-4-0 overall and is undefeated so far in the WCHA, continues league play with a two-game series at Ferris State next Friday and Saturday.
Bemidji State drops one to Northern Michigan
Bemidji State lost 3-1 to Northern Michigan Saturday night in Marquette, after playing to a scoreless tie on Friday night.
The Beavers scored on a power play in the first period to take an early lead. But the Wildcats scored three unanswered goals – including an empty-netter at the end – to earn the victory.
Bemidji State has a week off before its next series Nov. 13-14, when they host the University of Alaska.
