Michigan came in with the nation’s highest-scoring offense, but it was the Gophers who had all the firepower Friday night as they beat the Wolverines 6-2, at Mariucci Arena.
Kyle Rau led the Gopher attack with a hat trick, while Mike Reilly also posted a big game with a goal and three assists.
Minnesota got out to a strong start, building a 5-0 lead, including a three-goal onslaught in the first period.

It was a nice bounce-back game for Adam Wilcox, who was looking to redeem himself after allowing the Wolverines five goals in Ann Arbor last month. This time WilcoxÂş stopped 21 of the 23 shots he faced.
The series continues on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

Beavers pick up road win at Northern Michigan
Sam Rendle scored the lone goal in a 1-0 Bemidji State road win over Northern Michigan, Friday night.
It was the first road win for the Beavers since beating North Dakota on Oct. 10.
It was Rendle’s second goal of the season. He was assisted by Sam Windle and Phil Brewer. That was all Bemidji State would need as Beaver goaltender Michael Bitzer stopped all 25 shots he faced.
Neither team was able to take advantage of any opportunities on the power play. The Beavers were 0-of-4 with the man advantage, while the Huskies were 0-of-3.
Bemidji State (11-14-4, 7-10-4) and Northern Michigan continue the weekend series on Saturday.
