Twins designated hitter and first baseman Chris Colabello and Los Angeles Angels left fielder Josh Hamilton have been named Co-Players of the Week in the American League.
The announcement was made Monday by Major League Baseball.
Colabello had a big week for the Twins, hitting .391 with four doubles, one home run, and an American League leading 11 RBIs on the season.
It’s the first time a Twins’ player has received the weekly honor since Josh Willingham won it on April 16, 2012.
On Thursday, in Chicago Colabello hit a pair of doubles and drove in a career-high six RBI as the Twins beat the White Sox 10-9 at U.S. Cellular Field. He followed that with a four RBI performance as the Twins defeated Cleveland 10-7 on Sunday at Progressive Field.
Colabello kept swinging the bat in his first at bat on Monday as he singled in the first inning.

The Sports Network reports Hamilton hit an AL-best .500 with two homers, five RBI and five runs scored to claim his third weekly honor. His .864 slugging percentage and .560 on-base percentage led the majors, while his 19 total bases tied for tops in the AL.
Others considered for the award included former Twins and current Detroit Tigers’ outfielder Torii Hunter. Also Seattle’s Felix Hernandez and Justin Smoak and Chicago’s Chris Sale received consideration for the award.
