The return of head coach Rick Adelman along with Nikola Pekovic and Alexey Shved wasn’t enough to propel the Wolves to a win over the Los Angeles Clippers. Blake Griffin’s 26 point, 13 rebound effort was too much for Minnesota as the Clippers won, 96-90 at Target Center.
The Wolves trailed by 91-88 with 30 seconds to play, but Griffin put the nail in the coffin when he banked in a circus shot and was fouled to put the Clippers up by six.
Pekovic and Shved missed the previous five games with injuries. Shved as relatively ineffective off the bench but Pekovic had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Shved had 12 points but was an ugly 1-6 from three.
Believe it or not the Wolves were 16-15 on January 8. They’ve lost 10 of 11 since and have watched their status in the Western Conference plummet.
