Gophers football coach Tracy Claeys isn’t happy with freshman Jaylen Waters after Waters was ejected for a rough hit on Penn State’s kicker.
The illegal hit occurred late in the third quarter after Penn State kicker Joey Julius’ kickoff sailed out of the back of the end zone. Waters took aim at Julius and knocked him back with what looked like a pretty solid hit with his shoulder.

Waters was disqualified with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Had it been a targeting penalty he would have been suspended for the first half of the next game.
“I don’t have much comment,” Claeys said about Waters’ ejection, according to ESPN. “I’ll take care of that. Nobody has more pride and cares about the game of football more than me. There may be some who have equal, but I care about protecting the game.”
Julius isn’t the typical petite kicker. He’s more than 250 pounds and he’s already sort of popular for putting some big hits on kickoffs.
