The Vikings cornerback missed the final 10 games of the 2011 season while facing felony domestic assault charges. A jury acquitted Chris Cook in March after a high-profile trial and he returned to the team’s roster.
He tells the Star Tribune, “I think about my actions before I actually act on them. And I appreciate what I have now way more than I did before. I can’t take this for granted.”
The newspaper notes Cook has also changed jersey numbers, from 31 to 20.
The Vikings open the 2012 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Mall of America field on Sunday, Sept. 9.
