It seems almost everyone has an opinion about what the Vikings should do at quarterback following Teddy Bridgewater’s season-ending knee injury.
One of the guys that many have suggested the Vikings should keep their eyes on is now a free agent.
The Kansas City Chiefs released Aaron Murray Friday. The former four-year starter at Georgia was drafted during the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft (the same draft as Bridgewater).
Pro Football Talk says many viewed the former Bulldog as a steal when he was taken in the fifth round, but his fate was likely sealed in Kansas City when the Chiefs added Nick Foles in addition to Alex Smith.
Why does Murray make sense for the Vikings?
Former Philadelphia Eagles executive Joe Banner told the Star Tribune Murray could be a good fit as a short-term option and someone the Vikings could groom to be a long-term back or more if Bridgewater’s recovery doesn’t go as planned.
“He’s probably a little scary to the Vikings because he doesn’t have experience,” said Banner, who is now an ESPN analyst. “But I think he could take advantage of some of their weapons and learn the offense quickly. He could be functional. He’s young and likely to stay healthy.”
There’s just one problem with that.
Dallas, who lost Tony Romo last week, has priority on the waiver wire.

Vikings GM Rick Spielman confirmed they are hoping to add a quarterback by Monday.
