If you missed it over the weekend, Timberwolves rookie point guard Kris Dunn already looks like he doesn’t belong in the Las Vegas Summer League. What we mean is that he’s already overmatching his opponents – and he’s only two games into his NBA career.
After scoring 27 points in his debut, which included a crossover that would make Allen Iverson proud, Dunn scored 21 points to go along with 9 rebounds and 4 assists in Minnesota’s 82-80 loss to the Raptors on Sunday.
Dunn was 9-17 from the field but 0-4 on 3-point attempts.

“Summer league or not, Dunn is a physical specimen at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds,” Chicago Tribune NBA reporter K.C. Johnson wrote on Sunday. “He’s relentless at both ends. He attacks.”
ESPN’s Kevin Pelton has been watching and he’s loved Dunn’s ability to bully defenders around the basket. Pelton, via ABC News:
“Again, the caveat remains that Dunn hasn’t needed to rely on outside shooting — he missed all four of the 3-pointers he tried — but even in this setting few prospects get to the rim so regularly and finish with such power, including a three-point play where Dunn drew the foul, but defender Jakob Poeltl got the worst of the contact. Dunn also had nine boards.”
Dunn and the Wolves are back in action Monday at 7:30 p.m. against the Cleveland Cavaliers. You can watch the game on NBA TV.
