Matt Cassel had his worst game as a Minnesota Viking Sunday, turning the ball over four times and completing just 48 percent of his passes in Minnesota’s 42-14 loss to the Bengals.
Here were his thoughts on his personal performance and the team falling flat in their final road game of the season.
“Today was a tough day at the office, our hats go off to Cincinnati, a good team, a playoff caliber team. The mistakes I made, the inconsistency all day, it makes things a lot tougher.”
“We took a step back today. Any time you go out there you want to perform well, we weren’t able to achieve that today.”
On turnovers: “Sometimes you’re going to have those games. Throughout the course of the year I’ve tried to do a good job taking care of the ball, but today we weren’t able to get a lot done offensively.”
On likely being the starter next Sunday: “I’d love another opportunity to get out there and play, because obviously you want to get this taste out of your mouth. Every guy in there is going to come out and put together a good week next week and get ready for the Detroit Lions.”
On the lack of pass interference call on Jerome Simpson leading to his second interception: “It looked like it to me (that he was interfered with), but you have to just go with the calls.”
On not winning a road game this year: “Definitely disappointing, we’ve had chances to win ball games, throughout the course of the year we’ve played hard, just haven’t been able to finish.”
On his mindset next week: “The main goal for next week is to win. It’s not about personal goals.”
“We stunk it up today, they dominated us. It’s unfortunate.”
