Minnesota’s quarterback situation took a back seat on gameday with the brutal weather conditions in Baltimore and an injury to Adrian Peterson marring the Ravens-Vikings matchup Sunday.
While Cassel didn’t receive much attention, his day was solid, throwing two touchdowns while not turning it over, and racking up 265 yards despite completing just 45 percent of his passes despite the Vikes losing 29-26.
Here’s what he had to say to the media postgame.
“Another hard fought game for us, unfortunately we weren’t able to come out on top. Our hats go off to Baltimore, they played really well in one of the craziest games I’ve ever been a part of.”
“I think any time you score with that little time on the clock, you think you have a chance to win the ballgame. Baltimore did a nice job with the two-minute drill and got a score.”
On the late-game scoring: “The snow started to slow down a little bit and you could start to feel your fingers a little more, it was a difficult day.”
After Jacoby Jones kickoff return: “I was trying to impress upon the guys that we still have two timeouts, it’s just another two-minute situation for us. You hope at that point you can finish the deal, but it was a crazy fourth-quarter.”
Did the snow change the game? “For the most part we were able to run our offense, and in the second-half we were able to open it up a little more.”
On Adrian Peterson’s injury: “It’s unfortunate when anyone goes down, especially Adrian, but the guys that had to step in, they did a great job.”
On starting: “I’d like to start, and then again, it’s not my decision, I just continue to get ready to go every week.”
On being officially eliminated from the playoffs: “It’s difficult, especially when there’s so much promise at the beginning of the season. At the same time, we have three games left and no one will be giving up.”
On the snow: “This is as bad as it gets in terms of footing and constant snow throughout the day.”
“A heartbreaking loss.”
