Carl Pavano ruptures spleen while shoveling snow

Former Twins starter Carl Pavano ruptured his spleen after a fall while shoveling snow at his Vermont home, FoxSports.com reports.

Pavano, 37, is expected to be sidelined six to eight weeks, but the right-hander has yet to sign with a team for the 2013 season.

Pavano is coming off an injury-plagued season with the Twins. He was shut down in June due to a bone bruise.
