The Minnesota Wild came into Thursday’s matchup with the St. Louis Blues playing their third game in four nights. The Blues hadn’t played since Monday night.
That combination suggested that St. Louis would have the inside track to a victory but Cam Talbot was outstanding as the Wild won their 11th straight home game with a 2-0 win over the Blues.
St. Louis dominated the first period, but Talbot kept the Wild in it with a performance that saw him make 37 saves on the night. After a scoreless first period, the Wild got on the board first with Marcus Johansson’s third goal of the season.

Talbot kept the Blues off the scoreboard, making a save with his face mask and Kirill Kaprizov continued his Calder Trophy campaign by scoring his 11th goal of the season.

With a two-goal lead, Talbot was able to finish the shutout and extend the Wild’s franchise-record winning streak at home.
The Wild are now 21-10-1 on the season and will begin a road trip with a game at San Jose on Monday night.
