ST. LOUIS — Another win is in the books for the still-playoff-contending Vikings. We won’t get too football-nerdy, but here are three big numbers-behind-the-numbers following the Purple’s 36-22 win:

Rookie kicker Blair Walsh kicked three field goals from 50-yards out or greater on Sunday. That’s eight for 50-plus on the season for Walsh, tying a single-season NFL recordwith Jason Hansen and Morten Anderson. Walsh has two more games to break that record as the Vikes travel to Houston next week and finish the regular season on Dec. 30 at home against Green Bay.

That’s how many yards Adrian Peterson has to average the final two games of the season to tie the single-season NFL rushing record of 2,105, set by Eric Dickerson. The Texans and Packers are supposedly tough against the run, but so are the Rams — who gave up 212 yards to AP on Sunday.

Right now, thanks to Walsh and Peterson, the Vikings are the sixth playoff seed in the NFC, ahead of No. 7 Chicago. If the season were to end today, Minnesota would be in. But a lot can and will happen the next two weekends, and if the Vikings falter against the Texans or Packers — this unlikely playoff run will likely end suddenly.
