Twins’ prized prospects Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton comined to go 0-4 in the All-Star Futures Game Sunday in New York.
Sano went 0-2 with a walk and hit-by-pitch and Buxton struck out in both of his at-bats.
Afterward, Buxton told the Pioneer Press that he had an “amazing” experience.
“Just went out there and had fun. Don’t really care about the stats. Just go out there and have a good time, so that’s what I did,” he said.
Sano started at third base and batted fourth for the World Team while Buxton came off the bench for the U.S. Team. The U.S. won the game, 4-2.
Before the game, Buxton told MLB.com how excited he was to be playing with the best prospects Major League Baseball has to offer.
“It means a lot,” Buxton said. “It’s another opportunity for me to showcase my talents that God gave me, and just have fun.”
Baseball America recently ranked Buxton and Sano the No. 1 and No. 3 prospects in all of baseball.
Meanwhile, Buxton still mows his lawn. He simply tells Yahoo! Sports, “I’d rather do it myself.”
