Twins prospect Byron Buxton will miss the rest of the minor league season after a collision last week in his first game at Double A New Britain.
Twins general manager Terry Ryan made the announcement Monday.

Buxton was knocked unconscious for 10 minutes after the collision with right fielder Mike Kvasnicka, during the Rock Cats game last week.
According FOX Sports Net, Buxton flew to Florida on Sunday to partake in the team’s instructional league at some point. He is still dealing with concussion-like symptoms, including stiffness and headaches.
The good news on Byron Buxton is that his only symptom from the concussion is headaches. No sensitivity to light/sound. Some neck stiffness.

“He took the bigger brunt of the collision,” Ryan said to FOX Sports Net. “It wasn’t good, but I think we’re all fortunate it ended up the way it did end up. It was a tough thing. We’ve seen collisions in our day in this game, but that one ranked right up there.”
It was an injury-plagued year for Buxton, who is regarded by many as the top prospect in baseball. He played in just 31 games as a wrist injury in spring training slowed his progress.
Hardball Talk says Buxton figures to begin 2015 with New Britain. That likely would have been the plan for him in 2014, if he had been able to stay healthy.
Ryan is hopeful that Buxton could play in the Arizona Fall League, if he’s ready.
