While the Twins were busy losing to Miami Tuesday night, two top prospects — Aaron Hicks and Byron Buxton — made significant debuts in Minnesota’s minor league system.
First, Buxton. He made his first appearance for the Class A Fort Myers as the Miracle visited the Palm Beach Cardinals.
Buxton, according to TwinsDaily.com, hit leadoff and played center field. He went 1-for-5, with a single — but he was thrown out trying to steal second base.
Hicks, meanwhile, played his first game at the Class AAA level, as he rehabs from a strained left hamstring.
Hick was the DH in a Rochester Red Wings-Indianapolis Indians game. He went 3-for-4, with two singles, a double and an RBI. He should be back in the Twins lineup again as soon as he plays a few games in the outfield.
