Byron Buxton crushed a mammoth home run for the Minnesota Twins on Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough to match the five solo home runs that helped the Baltimore Orioles pick up a 5-3 victory in the series finale.
Buxton’s homer came in the fifth inning when the Twins were down 2-1. After Spenser Watkins fell behind in the count, Buxton crushed a 3-0 fastball 452 feet to give the Twins the lead.

Although Buxton’s bomb put a charge into the Twins, they couldn’t keep the ball in the park. Chris Archer served up solo home runs to Ryan Mountcastle and Cedric Mullins, and Julio Mateo homered off Caleb Thielbar in the fifth inning to tie the game at 3.
Baltimore took the lead in the eighth inning when Austin Hays and Mountcastle hit back-to-back homers off Jhoan Duran, and Jorge Lopez threw a 1-2-3 inning in the ninth to finish off the Twins.
The loss ended Minnesota’s seven-game road trip on a sour note, but they’ll return home on Friday to open a three-game series with the Oakland Athletics.
