Jerry Kill and the rest of the Golden Gophers coaching staff is doing a good job keeping some of the state’s top players home.
The latest top-flight Minnesota prep football player to commit to the Gophers is Kamal Martin, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound athlete from Burnsville High School. Martin had previously committed to play quarterback at Eastern Michigan.
Rivals lists Martin as a three-star recruit. Today’s U adds that Martin passed 12 touchdowns and only 1 interception last season. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who added 400 rushing yards.
According to the Star Tribune, Martin played linebacker and tight end, among other positions, at a recent football camp hosted by the Gophers.
“I would like to say that the University of Minnesota is the best fit for my family and I!!!” Martin posted on Twitter. “I will be attending the University of Minnesota for the next 4-5 years.”
