Minnesota Duluth was just too strong for the Gophers in the opening round of the NCAA Men’s Hockey Tournament. The Bulldogs built a big lead on their way to the 4-1 victory, Friday.
The Bulldogs got out to a quick start and never looked back. UMD built a 3-0 first period lead on goals from Tony Cameranesi, Justin Crandall and Willie Raskob.
It wasn’t the start that Adam Wilcox and his Gopher teammates were hoping for, and they never were able to recover.
Cameranesi and Raskob each finished with a goal and an assist in the Bulldog victory.
Minnesota’s only goal came in the third period thanks to Seth Ambroz. It was his 12th goal of the season.
The Bulldogs advance to the region final on Saturday night against Boston University. They emerged from a 3-2 triple overtime battle with Yale.
