Logan Morrison appears to have hit his way out of the brutal slump that he started the season in.
After going 0-for-7 in Minnesota’s 16-inning win over the Indians in Puerto Rico on April 18, Morrison’s batting average was down to .068 (3-for-48).
Since then, he has at least one hit in 12 of 15 games – the latest of which was a clutch, two-run double to help the Twins beat the White Sox on Sunday – and has increased his batting average by 114 points to .182.
“We’ve seen signs of better at-bats,” Twins manager Paul Molitor said of Morrison on Sunday. “He hung in there. Breaking balls have given him trouble with two strikes against lefties, and he stayed on it and was able to poke it and keep it fair. He’s starting to put together some numbers here and some good at-bats.”
It’s still ugly batting average, but he’s 15-for-55 in the last 15 games, a much more respectable .273 clip to go along with four homers, three doubles and 10 RBI. And he’s hitting .297 in his last 10 games.

Being boom or bust at the plate is nothing new for Morrison, who hit just .246 last season while finishing fourth in the American League with 38 homers. For example, he exploded in May of last season with 10 homers and 22 RBI, but had just four homers and eight RBI in July.
Morrison is the type of hitter who will go 1-for-4 or 2-for-5 most nights, but those 1-2 hits are often very impactful, run-producing hits like he had Sunday in Chicago.
