Shannon Brooks went into beast mode against Purdue over the weekend. The freshman running back for the Gophers pounded Purdue on the ground for 176 yards, 71 of which came on a Marshawn Lynch-like touchdown run.
His big day was enough to get recognized by the Big Ten as the conference’s co-freshman player of the week.

Gophers Sports notes that Brooks is the first Gopher to earn a weekly honor from Big Ten officials this season. The last player to do so was Chris Streveler last season.
Brooks and the Gophers are back in action Saturday when the Nebraska Cornhuskers visit TCF Bank Stadium.
