The man who plays the role of Detective Norm Scully on the NBC sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is back in his home state preparing to sing the national anthem before the Vikings take on the Bears Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Joel McKinnon Miller, a native of Rockford, Minnesota, told KARE 11 that the Vikings asked if he’d be willing to perform the anthem a while back, and he agreed to do it this week because it doesn’t interfere with his filming schedule.
“New battery. New band. Almost ready to head to MN. Honored to sing our National Anthem for the Vikings,” he wrote on Twitter, noting that he is a lifelong fan of the Vikings.

According to IMDB, McKinnon Miller started acting in high school and then studied opera and theater at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
He’s performed theater, TV and film for years, having moved to Los Angeles in 1991 with roles in hit shows like “Murphy Brown,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “American Horror Story” and “Big Love.”
