Minnesota Golden Gophers senior defensive back Brock Vereen will play in the East-West Shrine Game on Jan. 18, according to the Star Tribune.
Vereen accepted an invitation to play in the game, which features the top senior players across the college football landscape.
His stellar senior season with the Gophers will wrap up in the Texas Bowl against Syracuse on Dec. 27. Vereen, whose older brother Shane is talented running back for the New England Patriots, was voted first-team All-Big Ten by the coaches and an honorable mention on the team voted on by the media.
CBS Sports ranks Vereen as the 11th best strong safety eligible for the draft. He can also play cornerback.
KFAN’s Pete Bercich recently gave Vereen a crash course on what to expect from NFL coaches in his pre-draft interviews.
On Monday, Gophers defensive lineman Ra’Shede Hageman accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama on Jan. 25.
The Senior Bowl, as we documented in a feature on Hageman, is a go-to location for NFL teams in search of the most talented players expected to enter the NFL draft.
