Ready for the best Monday ever? Start it out with perusing the five sports storylines everyone is talking about today:
1) You want a national champion? We got your national champion right here. The University of Minnesota women’s hockey team is the best in the land, after defeating Wisconsin in the NCAA Frozen Four final.
2) Gopher men’s basketball team: Sweet 16, baby! Tonight! NIT! Well, as Meatloaf once sang … “Two out of three ain’t bad.”
3) The Timberwolves are in the Bay Area tonight to face the Golden State Warriors, and perhaps snap their three-game losing streak. The low point of the season may have come last night in a lackluster loss to Sacramento, which had Kevin Love and J.J. Barea bickering on the sidelines.
4) The Wild continue their difficult campaign with a game against Vancouver tonight. The Canucks are second in the Western Conference, hoping to challenge St. Louis for the top spot. The Wild have won one of nine, blowing a two-goal lead to Carolina Saturday, losing 5-3. As coach Mike Yeo put it: “We’re in hell.”
5) And there’s word from Florida that the Twins have sentTsuyoshi Nishiokato the minor leagues this morning. A year too late, perhaps, but a good move, nonetheless.
