Count Vikings captain and quarterback Teddy Bridgewater as one of those excited to see Adrian Peterson get back on the field Monday night when the Vikings open the regular season against San Francisco.
Peterson hasn’t played since the season-opener in St. Louis last season, a span of more than a calendar year. Bridgewater said AP is ready to get going.
“We’re excited for him and we can’t wait to watch him run wild on Monday,” Bridgewater told reporters during his press conference, Thursday.
If Peterson is running wild on Monday it will be against a much different 49ers defense. They lost seven starters from their squad last season and have a completely new coaching staff.

It will be the first time Peterson and Bridgewater play alongside each other in the Vikings backfield. Bridgewater didn’t start until the fourth week of the season last year, by that point Peterson was already away from the team while dealing with allegations of child abuse.
After sitting the remainder of the season out and enduring a tumultuous offseason, Peterson is back with the team. He reported to the team’s OTA’s and was rewarded with more guaranteed money in his contract prior to training camp.
He and Bridgewater are also two of the Vikings’ four captains on the season.
