Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was missing from Friday afternoon’s walkthrough as his teammates prepared for Sunday’s preseason opener against Pittsburgh.
The team announced that Bridgewater was absent to deal with a family matter. He is expected to rejoin the team in Ohio in time for Sunday’s game.

The Vikings play in the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio on Sunday night. According to the Star Tribune, Bridgewater was the only healthy player not at the Friday afternoon practice, which was the final on-field practice before the game.
1500 ESPN reports backup quarterbacks Shaun Hill, Mike Kafka and Taylor Heinicke took snaps in Bridgewater’s absence. Hill took the reps with the first team.
“I think Shaun has been doing a good job,” Zimmer told reporters on Friday. “I think Kafka and Taylor [Heinicke] have both been good at times and not so good at times.”
Bridgewater told reporters Thursday he was unsure how much he would play in Sunday’s preseason opener. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer didn’t add any clarity Friday, when he said the number of plays for the first-stringers will depend in part on his mood.
