After sitting out the 2018 season, defensive end Brian Robison signed a one-day contract on Wednesday so he could officially retire as a member of the Minnesota Vikings.
Robison made his retirement announcement in an emotional five-minute video in which he reads a hand-written letter to coaches, teammates and fans, all while sitting in a fishing boat.
“My wife and I will tell you that Texas was our home, it’s where I was born and raised … [but] Minnesota, no matter where we go, you will always have a piece of our heart.”

The Vikings took Robison in the fourth round of the 2007 draft and he spent his entire career in Minnesota, playing in 173 regular-season games and seven playoff games. He missed just three games during his career and started 95 games from 2011-16.
Robison’s 60 sacks is tied with Kevin Williams for ninth-most in franchise history.
