Twins second baseman Brian Dozier was diagnosed with a mild ankle sprain after rolling his ankle during the sixth inning on Friday night at Target Field.
Trainers went out to check on Dozier but he was able to play through the inning. Eventually he was lifted for a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth.
Manager Paul Molitor told reporters after the game the injury is day-to-day as it graded out as a mild sprain. He’ll most likely miss the rest of the series this weekend against the Boston Red Sox.
The Twins have a day off on Monday and the powerful hitting second baseman could return to lineup on Tuesday when Minnesota plays the White Sox in Chicago.
Dozier went 0-4 on Friday with three strikeouts. Through 105 at bats this season, Dozier is hitting .220 with four home runs.
