The Minnesota Vikings drafted Germany’s Mortiz Böhringer last month, making him the first player taken in the NFL draft straight from Europe with no college experience.
According to ProFootballTalk, Böhringer will also be the only player in the NFL to have an umlaut on his jersey.

According to Ben Goessling of ESPN, the “oe” in Boehringer’s name is an Americanized version of the surname.
The German version of his last name has no ‘e’ in it.
