The WCHA announced Thursday that University of Minnesota standouts Nick Bjugstad and Adam Wilcox were named players of the week. Bjugstad tallied six points in two games to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. Wilcox allowed just one goal in two games to earn Rookie of the Week honors.

Minnesota hosts Notre Dame on Tuesday and it will be the first time Gophers coach Don Lucia goes against his son and Notre Dame standout Mario Lucia. On Thursday Mario was named the CCHA Gongshow Rookie of the Month for December. He was a 2011 second round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild.
When No. 1 Minnesota and No. 2 Notre Dame meet up the Gophers will be without forward Erik Haula. He suffered an upper-body injury during the Mariucci Classic and will miss at least the next three games.
