Vikings linebacker Desmond Bishop is ready for the 2013 season.
Now he just has to convince the Minnesota brain trust to A) give him a roster spot and B) give him a job as a starter.
According to Fox Sports North, Bishop — a former Packer — approached the four-game exhibition slate in August as an audition for the team.
He did just fine, leading the Vikings with 21 preseason tackles.
Last night, more of the same from Bishop, who led the defense with seven tackles in Minnesota’s 24-23 win over Tennessee. Most came in the opening series, including two for a loss.
Bishop missed all last year with a torn hamstring, and was released by Green Bay earlier this summer.
“Every time I’m out there, it’s an audition,” Bishop said. “You have to always show up and play your best. That’s all I did. That’s all I could do.”
“I thought Desmond did a good job,” Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said. “He was flying around. It was good to see him get out there. I’m looking forward to watching the tape and evaluating him a little bit more, but he did a good job.”
