2 P.M. UPDATE
The Zach Parise era in Minnesota isn’t over, despite a downpour of reports saying a trade between the Wild and New York Islanders was close to getting done Monday.
In the end, there was no deal to be made as the 2 p.m. trade deadline came and went without Minnesota doing anything. Matt Dumba, Jonas Brodin and a bunch of other players whose names were in the rumor mill for weeks all stay put.
TSN’s Frank Servalli first reported that the Parise deal was being discussed, adding that part of the package New York planned to send back to Minnesota included 34-year-old left wing Andrew Ladd.
Both Parise and Ladd would’ve had to waive no-move clauses in their contracts.
Parise has 21 goals and had 16 assists in 61 games with the Wild this season.
Wild GM Bill Guerin will meet with the media at 2:45 p.m. and we’ll update the story then.
Original story
Just over two hours from the 2 p.m. NHL trade deadline, TSN’s Frank Servalli is reporting that the New York Islanders are talking to the Minnesota Wild about a deal that would include Zach Parise.
“Not done yet,” is what Servalli tweeted at 11:28 a.m.
Hearing #isles are working on a deal that would reunite Zach Parise and GM Lou Lamoriello. Not done yet.

Parise has five years remaining on the 13-year contract he signed in 2012. Servalli adds that a deal would include the Islanders sending left wing Andrew Ladd to the Wild.
Parise is willing to waive no-move is this comes to fruition. It’s a complicated trade. Talks have been ongoing with #mnwild since last summer and revived lately. Ladd would have been the return last summer https://t.co/9iL0NuTiVs

Ladd is due to make $5.5 million annually through the 2022-23 season, while Parise’s annual salary is approximately $7.5 million through the 2024-25 season. But there’s also a potential recapture penalty that, as its written now, would cost the Wild a fortune if Parise were to retire for a non-injury reason before his contract is fulfilled.
According to Cap Friendly, that penalty, depending on which year Parise would hypothetically retire, would range from $3.8 million to more than $19 million.
IF Parise is indeed traded to the NY Islanders, and IF Parise were to retire at any point in the next 5 years, here's what the recapture penalties would look like for both Minnesota and the Islanders. pic.twitter.com/K1VTdePOVo

Arthur Staple, who covers the Islanders for The Athletic, reports that Parise has waived his no-move clause and wants to join the Islanders.
Not saying it's done (and now that it's out, LL may decide it's dead), but heard Parise has waived his NTC and is ready to go. Wants to join the #Isles.
