Stefon Diggs is due to make $1.9 million with the Vikings for the 2018 season and then he’s due to become a free against in 2019.
Already considered one of the top young wide receivers in the game, Diggs’ pay raise could be a lot more than anyone expected thanks to the deal the Cleveland Browns and Jarvis Landry agreed to on Thursday.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Landry got a 5-year, $75.5 million deal with $47 million guaranteed.
The #Browns and WR Jarvis Landry are going to agree to terms on a 5-year, $75.5M extension, sources say. He gets $47M guaranteed… crazy for those who considered him a slot receiver.

Landry is now the fifth highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL, in terms of annual average salary, according to Spotrac.
- Antonio Brown, Steelers – $17 million
- Mike Evans, Buccaneers – $16.5 million
- DeAndre Hopkins, Texans – $16.2 million
- Sammy Watkins, Chiefs – $16 million
- Jarvis Landry, Browns – $15.1 million
Landry has put up bigger numbers than Diggs has, but it’s a good reminder that Diggs is one breakout season away from making Landry-like money.
It’s even more likely considering Watkins’ massive deal with the Chiefs, whom Diggs has been more productive than and they’re the same age (24).
As 247 Sports notes, Minnesota still could get a team-friendly deal Diggs, much like they did with Adam Thielen’s 4-year, $19 million extension prior to the start of last season. If they wait and Diggs has a breakthrough season he could command a massive payday, perhaps in line with what Landry just got.
Diggs isn’t the only young star the Vikings have to worry about losing in free agency in 2019. Defensive stars Anthony Barr, Danielle Hunter, Eric Kendricks and Trae Waynes are all due big raises.
